About

A year ago, it was an abandoned Arsenal factory in Kyiv. Today, it is a popular place with restaurants, bars, bakeries, co-working spaces, and educational institutions. The factory is part of the historical Kiev fortress, a unique European monument protected by the state.

The blacksmith's workshop was built in the 1880s in the style of late classicism. After a reconstruction in 1907-1910, it was given elements of the "brick" style and Art Nouveau. In the 1930s, it was used as a foundry. Over time, it began to deteriorate.

AVG Architects aimed to preserve the historic appearance with an emphasis on the "brick" style. During restoration, the authentic brickwork was restored, roof elements were reinforced, windows and doors were replaced, and a mezzanine was installed. The building became a decoration of historical Kyiv thanks to the illumination of decorative elements of the facade. Unnecessary fences and temporary structures were also demolished, and a pedestrian zone and landscaping were arranged.

In September 2019, the Kyiv Food Market opened in Pavilion 5.
